Monica is a bilingual writer, editor, and security expert with over 30 years of experience in executive protection, global event security, and investigative journalism. She specializes in crafting compelling narratives, research-driven articles, and thought leadership content, with published works on security, risk management, and women’s empowerment.
A seasoned security leader, Monica has an extensive background in corporate security, protective services, private investigations, and law enforcement. She is an expert in developing and executing security strategies that minimize liability while safeguarding people, assets, and facilities in both corporate and government sectors worldwide. Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, she also speaks intermediate Italian and French.
Monica’s operational experience includes serving on elite task forces, such as Human Trafficking, Gangs, and DEA operations. As an undercover narcotics detective and SWAT hostage negotiator, she honed her skills in high-risk environments. She has also worked as a defensive tactics and evasive driving instructor. Her executive protection portfolio includes UHNW clients across the U.S., Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Saudi Arabia, as well as protective operations in Mexico, South America, Europe, and 25 African countries.
A respected mentor in the security industry, Monica contributes regularly to The Circuit Magazine and serves on the ASIS International Executive Protection Community Council Leadership, where she chairs the Publications Sub-Committee. From 2021 to 2023, she was a key member of the OSAC Women in Security Benchmarking Committee. Frequently quoted in industry publications, Monica has been featured in The New York Times and The Daily Mail.
Beyond security, Monica is deeply involved in global initiatives, including self-defense education for women and girls, anti-human trafficking efforts, and wildlife conservation campaigns to combat ivory poaching.
Fun Fact: Among the most fascinating places Monica has visited are the Serengeti and Mauritania.
I had an incredible opportunity to write an article in the Buenos Aires ASIS Chapter 125 Newsletter.
I had the privilege to join Scot Walker's Protective Future Podcast where we talk about how I got into Executive Protection in the hopes we could help others who want to change careers who are in Law Enforcement, Military and others.
Monica Duperon Rodriguez is a seasoned professional protector who has worn many hats as she navigated a path to success through two male-dominated career fields, in both law enforcement and executive protection. Having the opportunity to speak with her, I realized that the adversities that she faced were simply fuel for the engine that has driven her to accomplish her goals time and again.
Monica is dedicated to encouraging Women in Protection on a continuous bases.
